Purchase Metro Tickets Easily with Delhi Metro App on Smartphones

Officials have announced that the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has introduced a new mobile app specifically designed for its passengers. This app will allow users to easily generate QR-code tickets for seamless and convenient travel throughout the DMRC network.

The DMRC TRAVEL app was officially launched by Vikas Kumar, Managing Director, DMRC from Metro Bhawan here in the presence of senior officials.

With this new mobile app, passengers can now buy tickets directly from their smartphone, eliminating the need to go to ticket counters or vending machines or wait in line. Passengers can now experience a fast and efficient ticketing process, saving valuable time during their commute.

The app supports multiple payment methods including UPI, credit/debit cards and e-wallets, ensuring flexibility and convenience for users. Passengers can select their preferred payment option and complete the transaction easily on the app itself, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said in a statement.

In addition, this app has other passenger-centric features such as trip planner, fare calculator, station information and smart card loading. It also shows route information from the point of origin to the destination, including interchange stations. You can view the transaction history, rebook the ticket for the same departure and return journey, it said

The application is available for download on the Android platform, soon to be followed by the iOS platform, allowing a wide user base to experience the convenience of mobile Quick Response (QR) code ticket sales. Passengers are encouraged to download the app from their respective app stores and explore the features and benefits it offers, it added.

To provide such a user-friendly, cashless and fast mode of ticketing, DMRC undertook an extremely technically challenging exercise to upgrade its AFC gates, which were already in passenger traffic, on all corridors without closing these gates even for a single period. a day in record time, officials said.

The entire exercise was mainly carried out during the limited night time after the end of passenger traffic, so that when traffic continued the next day, all gates were kept available to passengers again. DMRC has already upgraded more than 60 per cent of its AFC gates with QR code scanners and the rest are also slated to be covered in the next one to two months, they said.

With the introduction of the DMRC TRAVEL application, it aims to improve the overall commuting experience of passengers by offering a modern and user-friendly ticketing solution. This initiative is in line with DMRC’s commitment to leverage technology for a comfortable commute for its valued passengers, it said.
